Ripple is an open-access platform supported by Minderoo Foundation to improve the discoverability, accessibility and use of eDNA data.
Built on open science and FAIR data principles, Ripple brings together publicly available eDNA datasets and associated metadata into a single platform, enabling users to explore biodiversity across space and time, through interactive tools and AI-powered analysis. By making eDNA data more accessible, transparent and reusable, Ripple supports researchers, environmental managers, governments, industry and communities in generating insights and using eDNA evidence to inform biodiversity monitoring, conservation and environmental decision-making.

Current data sources include datasets generated by Minderoo OceanOmics Centre at the University of Western Australia (UWA), Wilderlab, and eDNA records published through the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).
All data displayed in Ripple is presented in accordance with the sharing requirements, licences and attribution conditions specified by the data producers and rights holders. Users of Ripple are responsible for complying with these same requirements when accessing, using, citing or redistributing data obtained through the platform. For more information on data access, licensing and attribution requirements, please refer to the data policies associated with each data source. Want to see your data in Ripple?
Ripple draws on publicly available eDNA datasets from established biodiversity data repositories and will continue to expand as new data become available. We encourage data contributors to publish and share their data through these platforms to maximise discoverability, accessibility, interoperability and reuse. Guidance on publishing eDNA records can be found in: Takahashi et al. 2025.
Ripple is made possible through the collective efforts of a growing global community of researchers, institutions, laboratories, environmental monitoring programs and biodiversity data infrastructures that generate, curate, share and steward eDNA data.
